TEDxSalem V Call to Speakers is now open.
Do you have an idea worth spreading? (Scroll down to apply)
TEDxSalem is now accepting applications for speakers for our event on Saturday January 6, 2018. We’re looking for speakers with messages that are innovative, inspiring and challenging. We are aiming for a diverse selection of speakers and topics highlighting the flavor of the Pacific Northwest.
TED stands for Technology Entertainment and Design and brings together the world’s leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that that matter in any discipline — technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, and development in the spirit of “ideas worth spreading.” TEDxSalem is our local community’s version of this same philosophy. Some talk ideas that we are particularly interested in are: microbiomes, The internet of things vs. internet privacy, 3-D printing, internet security, advances in prosthetics, ultra running/ultra sports, high level math, big data: what can it do for us?, hybrid electric trains, passive houses, new advances in brain science or any other science, and animal psychology. This is not a definitive list, but just a jumping off point.
Applications will be accepted until June 10, 2017. Please note that applying does not guarantee you will be selected as a speaker. TED has advised us to focus ideas that are new (to most) and that most people have not thought about previously, while discourages talks on general business, motivation, “the underdog story” and some environmental topics.
After submission, your application will be reviewed by our Speaker Review Committee. This committee works closely with the invited speakers to ensure the success of each presentation.
