Glitschka created the letters in the TEDxSalem logo from scratch. He wanted it to be distinctly different, a nod to the Revolutions theme. When he created the R, he saw an individual figure emerge.
If you look closely, you can see the legs, body and the star or head on top.
“It represents the individual that is ready to cause his own creative revolution or break through in his own life,” he said.
The overall design has a propaganda feel, he said, which was intentional. The R is backwards, also intentional.
“A revolution is about turning things around,” he said, “they don’t like the direction things are going so they’re reversing course.”
Being a TEDxSalem partner has been revolutionary for Glitschka. He developed a hand-painted illustration style for last year’s Fearless logo, a look that he continues to use today for clients including Adobe.
“That actually led to discovering a new illustration style for me,” he said.
Revolutions. It’s not just a theme, it’s what we do at TEDxSalem. T-shirts with this year’s logo will be on sale at TEDxSalem on Jan. 7.
